To kick off our Halloween week by talking about Halloween and sharing what we were going to be. Then we read the story Where's My Mummy.
We used tissues to make our own mummy.

Yesterday we learned about bats by watching a video on the Smart Board. Then we graphed if we thought bats were creepy or cute. I was surprised that only 2 friends thought they were creepy.
Then we made some bats to fly around our graph.

Today we talked about decorating pumpkins and looked at many pictures of pumpkins before we got to decorate our own.

They all did an amazing job!

I can't wait for our Halloween Party tomorrow!!!

 COOKIE MONSTER!!!!

Here is a peek at the jobs that children completed this week:

Dentist

Today Dr. Lale, Shattuck's mom, came to talk to the children about their teeth. The children all got plastic gloves and a mouth shield like a dentist and took turns brushing a big set of teeth. She also read a great story that the children enjoyed. At the end the children got to pick a prize from the treasure box and got a toothbrush and toothpaste to take home.

Here are some pictures from our fun day:

Thank you SOOOOO much Dr. Lale!!!!

Fall Farm Festival

I wanted to share with everyone about our annual Fall Farm Festival that we have at our place, Maple Grove Farm. It's this Saturday, October 26 from 10:00- 2:00. Admission is $10 per person and for the children admission includes a t-shirt and a pumpkin. The activities include a petting farm, hayride, moon bounce, zip-line, playground, face painting, pumpkin patch/decorating, gamers with prizes, DJ, rock wall, and concessions.
100% of the proceeds benefit the Paul A. McDaniel Foundation for organ donation and stroke awareness. Paul was my husband's younger brother. On September 14, 2008 Paul, 22, passed away due to several massive strokes in both hemispheres of his brain. He passed on the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. He saved 4 lives and gave up to 80 people a chance for a higher quality of life. We have had the pleasure and honor to meet and spend time with Paul's heart recipient, read the article here. We are so excited the Stephen will be joining us again this year for our festival.

To read more about Paul and the foundation please go HERE

Please come out and support a great cause while having a blast.

Monster Week

Today we kicked off our Monster Unit by reading one of my favorite stories...

I absolutely LOVE this one.

We talked about how monsters are not real. Then we made our own Max and the children told me what they do when they feel wild.
Here are some of the answers I got:
jump on my bed, scream, run, fight with my brother, scare people, play outside, hang from a tree, and swing on the playground.

Mural

Here is a picture of our transportation mural:

Fall Break

I missed not being here with the children on Thursday but enjoyed having a 4D ultrasound and getting to see our newest addition. I can't believe he will be here in about 10 weeks!

I hope everyone had a great Fall Break. My family and I spent it going camping at Chickasaw State Park. We did tons of walking and even more sitting around a fire...I LOVE camping. I had to share a few pictures of our fun weekend!

Transportation Wrap Up

Last Wednesday we learned about school buses by watching a video on the Smart Board that took us on a tour of one.

Everyone had a blast at the Tea Party with Mom. Thanks again for everyone who came and helped.

On Thursday we ended the week by having each table make a different type of transportation (which will be made into a mural).

Here is a peek at the jobs the children completed this week:

At this job the children measured different types of transportation using links. Then they counted the links and wrote the number on their sheet.

At this job the children had to match upper and lower case letters.

For this job the children had to pick a truck, id the number, and count that many blocks.
