Weekly Jobs

Our first week of jobs was a success!!!

Jobs is where the children rotate to four tables through out the week. Each table has a different educational activity for them to complete. This is a great time for the children to participate in small  group and individual work. It's also great for assessment purposes.

Here is what the children did at jobs this week:
Sorting Colors

Sorting letters and numbers

Sorting Shapes

My Special Name- The children had to find the letters in their name, put them in order, and trace their name.

Alphabet Surprise- The children pulled a letter out the bag, found it on their page, and colored it.

Weekly Wrap Up

Yesterday the children did a great job following directions and using our scissor skills to make self portraits.

Today we reviewed everything we have discussed this week. Then we talked about how our names all begins with a letter. Everyone shared what letter their name begins with and then we decorated that letter.

Our First Gift

This week we have been talking all about OURSELVES.

On Tuesday we talked about the first gift that our parents gave us...our name. Then the children practiced putting their names in order and writing them to make a "present".

Yesterday we discussed how our families are unique. Then we had to listen directions to complete a house glyph.

First Week of School

Here is a peek at the fun things that we did last week:

We started our staggered day by reading the "The Kissing Hand". The children then painted the most adorable Chester Raccoon. I really LOVE this craft!

On Thursday we discussed how we felt on the first day of school and wrote it on a huge hand.

Friday we talked about how we can "fill our buckets" by reading the book "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?". Then we sorted how to be a bucket filler and a bucker dipper.

The children's buckets.

A Quick Post

Our first full day today was amazing. I'm so excited about this school year and what it is going to bring.

Tomorrow I will post some pictures of the activities that we have completed this week.

I found this poem and wanted to share because I think it sums up being a teacher perfectly.

Back to School

The first day of school FINALLY arrived today. I was SO excited to meet the first group of children and we had an amazing day. I can't wait to meet the rest of the children tomorrow and Wednesday.

Today my little man started 3K with Mrs. Barbara and it was a day of missed emotions for me...my little man is WAY too big.

We're Ready

After a long week of getting the room ready, I think Ms. Emily and I are finally there. I'm SO excited with the way everything has come together and LOVE the pirate theme. Here are a few pictures of the finish project:

Our Door!!!

The view from the front door.
Bulletin Board and Weekly Job Chart
Our Classroom Rules hanging on a fish net.

Writing Center
Front of the room: our class schedule, Smart Board, Bucket Fillers, calendar goodies, scoreboard, 100th day counter, clip chart, job chart, and reading center.

I've decided that instead of doing tickets in buckets, that are always in the way, we are going to have these buckets that the children will earned 10 sticks to go to the treasure box. YAY!!! These was a last minute decided and I LOVE it.
I'm super excited and ready to start meeting the sweet children tomorrow.
