This week Mr. I is talking us about insects. I love this unit because the children learn SO much. Yesterday we had 7 caterpillars delivered to watch turn into a butterfly. So far we talked about how we know if a bug is an insect through a song by Dr. Jean. The song teaches the children that insects have a head, thorax, abdomen, eyes, mouth, two antennas, and six legs. Today we talked about a butterflies life cycle. Still to come...lady bugs and how spiders are not insects.
Here are picture of the children's jobs:

Lady Bug Glyph |

Here the children had to find the matching trees and practiced writing numbers and number words. |
|
Catching Butterflies. The children caught a butterfly with a letter on it and then had to highlight that letter. |
|
Ladybug Math. Here the children picked a number, put that many dots on the lady bug and recorded it. |
