Today we learned about giraffes. We learned:
- Giraffes are the tallest animal in the world.
- They love to munch on the thorny leaves of the acacia tree.
- They have excellent vision that gives them a wide view of the grasslands where they live.
- A giraffe's tongue can be up to 21 inches long and can grab and hold onto objects.
- Giraffes can go weeks without drinking water. Giraffes get most of the water they need from the plants they eat.
- Giraffes make noises that cannot be heard by humans.
- Giraffes have two to four short, blunt horns on their head.
- No two giraffes have the same pattern of spots.
Then the children did a wonderful job making a giraffe.
