Feeling Week

On Monday I introduced our letter of the week "H". We practiced making its sound, writing it, and thought of some things that start with it.

To help the children learn their numbers we have started using the flash cards below, I got them here. These flash cards have a character embedded into each number, and the children have a motion to act when they see each number. They have responded amazing to them. I may also look into purchasing more of her products because of the children's response.

Here is a peek at the jobs that the children are rotating through this week:
H Sheet

At this job, the children looked for the letters in magazines.

Rainbow Writing- The children practiced tracing their names with different colors.

ABC Hunt

This week in Prayer Center the children are learning the Sign of the Cross. First we put a sticker on their right hand so they know which hand to use.
Then with the help of Bob, we practice making the Sign of the Cross.
Finally we made a cross and glued the pieces in order.

On Monday we read the book Glad Monster Sad Monster. While reading the story we discussed different types of emotions and what makes us feel certain ways. After the children made their own feeling monster.

Tuesday we read the story I Feel Silly When. While reading it we practiced making faces based off the feeling we were reading about. After we graphed how we felt.

Today I introduced the letter one and went over all the ways to make the number one.

Today we talked more about feelings and sharing by reading the story The Rainbow Fish. We also talked about how sharing is caring. Then the children glued tissue paper on a fish to make scales and water colored its fins.

Tomorrow we are going to read the story My Many Color Days

All About Me Wrap Up

Here's the wrap up of our week:
On Wednesday we discussed how our names were one of the first gifts that our parents gave us. After we graphed our names based on what it begins with and then reviewed the chart.
We also made these cute portraits. The children did a great job following directions.

Yesterday we watched the story Too Much Glue. After we practiced using just a dot of glue because anything more is too much glue.

Later we decorated the first letter of our name and counted how many letters are in our name.
Today we discussed how God made us all special.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I can't wait for our feeling unit next week.

First Full Day

Today has been such a fun day with all the children.
I found this poem and loved it so much that I wanted to share.
As this year goes on I will continue to grow a stronger connection with you and your child and then at the end of the year it will be hard to say goodbye, as your child will always have a place in my heart. Thank you SOOOO much for giving me your babies to love and teach for this school year!

Here is a peek at the activities that we did today.

Today the children started their rotation through jobs.
Jobs is where the children rotate to four tables through out the week. Each table has a different educational activity for them to complete. This is a great time for the children to participate in small  group and individual work. It's also great for assessment purposes.

Practicing tracing our name and putting the letters of our name in order

Shape Sorting

Finding letters in our friends' names.

Sorting letters and numbers

Sorting colors
Today we read the book How to be a Bucket Filler These is a great inspiring and powerful book. We completed a fun chart with all of the ideas about how to be bucket fillers and bucket dipper.

After the children completed a craft where they had to draw a picture about how we could be bucket filler.

The Beginning...

We had a great start to school with our staggered days. I loved getting to meet all of the children and I know we will have a fantastic year.

Here is a peek at what we did:

We learned all about our rules and routines. We played in our new centers and enjoyed playing with each other.

We read the book "Pete the Cat Rocking My School Shoes". At the end of the story, Pete the Cat left us clues to go on a tour of the school.

The tour ended with Pete leaving us with a fun craft.

I love seeing friendships begin!!!
