Then we read a Thanksgiving story...

and made the Mayflower.

Now we are getting ready for our feast....yummmmmm!!!

Fairy Tale Wrap Up

I have to say that I LOVE our fairy tale unit and hope the children did too.

Here is a wrap up of our fun week:

On Wednesday Mrs. Schmitz came and did a guidance lesson with the children.

Thursday we drew a castle and then colored it. This was a fun craft as the children didn't know what they were drawing at first. They had to listen to my directions as I told them what to draw.

Then we ate fancy cakes...yummy!!!

Friday was a super busy day.

We started our day by watching the story The Wizard of Oz

We made ruby slippers.

We graphed our favorite Wizard of Oz character...the lion won!!
Then we watched the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

We talked about real and make believe and made a list.

We ended with making Red Riding Hood
Since we didn't have recess because of the weather we had a shaving cream party!

This was the perfect way to end our day!

We have had a fun and busy week.

We started off our week by reading the nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty" and talking about rhyming words.

We read the story The Three Pigs and talked about pretend and real. We also took turns sequencing the events in the story and made the most adorable craft ever.

We have also read the story Jack and Bean Stalk, watched the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade put on a fall musical and watched a video on Thanksgiving.

Here is the wrap up of our fun week talking about food.

On Thursday we made chefs and the children told us what they would make if they were a chef.

We also had our favorite food party. The children enjoyed getting to share their favorite food with their friends. I want to thank all the parents for sending in items.

On Friday we practiced recognized the letters in our names and putting them together to form our names by making these cute chefs.

Kitchen Unit

Monday we started our kitchen unit by reading the story Good Enough to Eat
While reading the book we learned about the Food Pyramid and how our body needs food.

Then we discussed healthy and non-healthy food. To wrap our day up we sorted healthy and non-healthy food on the Smart Board.

Yesterday Ms. Julie from the Memphis Botanic Gardens came and taught the children about what's a fruit and what's a veggie.

Ms. Julie have each child a part of a fruit or veggie. The children had to find the friend that had the matching part and figure out if it's a fruit of veggie.

Then they sorted them in baskets.

Then we went to our tables and made fruit and veggie people and planted a seed.

Today Mrs. Schmitz came and did a lesson with the children on talking medicine from people other that their parents.

We are having a fun week and can't wait to make chefs and have our favorite food party tomorrow.
