Insects

This week the children are learning about insects: fireflies, bumble bees, ants, and grasshoppers.
Here's a peek at the art projects:

For jobs the children are practicing counting and making tally marks, counting how many insects in a jar and writing the number, capitalizing letters, and identify letters.

Next week the children will celebrate Dr. Seuss.

USA

Last week the children learned about America, Abe Lincoln, George Washington, and Bald Eagles.
Here are some examples from last year:

For jobs that children practiced capitalizing letters, measuring Lincoln's hat, finishing flag patterns, and counting stars.

Visit

It's been a long time since I've made a blog post and I have no idea where this time has gone.

I was SO excited today that I got to spend the morning visiting with the children and take the class picture with them. I have truly missed them. At first it felt strange walking into the classroom after not being there for the past 7 weeks, but the children made me ALL feel welcomed as I received numerous hugs and sweet smiles. Today made me ready to coming back on March 17. I was surprise that I bounced back into teacher mode within minutes of being in there. I was sad to leave but happy to come home to my little man.

Speaking of my little man...here are some recent pictures:

Finn is almost 8 weeks/2months.  February 14 we had to take him to the doctor for his first ear infection, luckily you would have never know he was sick. At that time he weight 10.8 pounds...I can't believe how much he has grown in a short amount of time. We are finally starting to figure out our nights and days. Last night he went 7 hours in-between feedings...yay. This week he has been going 5-6 hours so I have been feeling more rested (I hope he keeps this up specially when I go back).

Once again I thank each of you for being so supportive during this wonderful time for me.

My Newest Addition

I wanted to stop by and say HI!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It's only been a week since the children have been back and I miss "my babies"and think of them everyday. I hope they are all doing great and adjusting okay. Please give your child a big hug for me and tell them that I miss them.

On January 2 we welcomed our newest addition to our family. Here is my sweet angel Finn Joseph McDaniel. Born 8:14 am, 6.11 ounces and 19.5 inches long.

2 days old

One Week Old

He is perfect in every way and is such a joy. He is still learning his nights and days, as I got about 3 hours of sleep last night. Man the things you forget in 3 1/2 years but cuddling with him makes it all worth it.

Calen seems to be adjusting to this huge transition. He like to help change his diaper, get whatever items I may need, and talk to Finn. I have to say that watching him talk to Finn is the sweetest thing EVER! I feel like this is the hardest part this go around, making Calen not feel left out. Tim, my husband, has done as amazing job in that area.

And my mommy duties are calling as it is time for little man to eat.

I want to thank everyone for their support in this transition time for both from child and my family and look forward to seeing everyone!

Christmas Jobs

Here is a peek at the jobs that the children completed this week...

For this job the children had to pick a present, id the number, and put that many bows on it.

At this job the children had to roll a die, count the dots, and place that many pom poms on the Christmas tree.

Upon on the Housetop- For this job the children had to id the number on the house and count out that many blocks to make a chimney.

Christmas Week

We have had a fun week learning about the Christmas story.

On Wednesday we learned about Angels. We talked about the Angels in the Christmas story and in the Bible. Then the children made these beautiful Angels.

Yesterday we made a J for Jesus. The children glued white paper to make stripes for a candy cane. Then we made Jesus in a manger.

We are all excited to sing Christmas songs in front of our parents today!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
