Everyone had a blast on Halloween.

We started off the day by making a spider and a ghost craft.

Then it was time to get into our costumes to have some fun!

To kick off our Halloween week by talking about Halloween and sharing what we were going to be. Then we read the story Where's My Mummy.
We used tissues to make our own mummy.

Yesterday we learned about bats by watching a video on the Smart Board. Then we graphed if we thought bats were creepy or cute. I was surprised that only 2 friends thought they were creepy.
Then we made some bats to fly around our graph.

Today we talked about decorating pumpkins and looked at many pictures of pumpkins before we got to decorate our own.

They all did an amazing job!

I can't wait for our Halloween Party tomorrow!!!

Monster Week Wrap Up

Friday we finished up our fun unit on Monsters.

On Thursday we read the story Go Away Big Green Monster and talked about how monsters are pretend. We all shared stories of being scared of a "monster" in our room and what we can do if we get scared.

On Friday we watched a video about a fun monster that we all love...
 COOKIE MONSTER!!!!

Here is a peek at the jobs that children completed this week:
Monster Sounds- At this job the children picked a monster and had to decided if the picture on the monster began with the letter "M". If the picture did the children drew a smiley face and if not they drew a sad face.

Crow Counting- Here the children rolled the die, counted the dots and counted out that many crows to put on their scarecrow.

Monster Math Roll and Count- At this job the children had to roll a die, count the dots and find that number on their sheet.

Mummy Patterns- Here the children had to copy and finish the pattern on a mummy.
I can't wait for our fun week about Halloween!

Dentist

Today Dr. Lale, Shattuck's mom, came to talk to the children about their teeth. The children all got plastic gloves and a mouth shield like a dentist and took turns brushing a big set of teeth. She also read a great story that the children enjoyed. At the end the children got to pick a prize from the treasure box and got a toothbrush and toothpaste to take home.

Here are some pictures from our fun day:

Thank you SOOOOO much Dr. Lale!!!!

Fall Farm Festival

I wanted to share with everyone about our annual Fall Farm Festival that we have at our place, Maple Grove Farm. It's this Saturday, October 26 from 10:00- 2:00. Admission is $10 per person and for the children admission includes a t-shirt and a pumpkin. The activities include a petting farm, hayride, moon bounce, zip-line, playground, face painting, pumpkin patch/decorating, gamers with prizes, DJ, rock wall, and concessions.
100% of the proceeds benefit the Paul A. McDaniel Foundation for organ donation and stroke awareness. Paul was my husband's younger brother. On September 14, 2008 Paul, 22, passed away due to several massive strokes in both hemispheres of his brain. He passed on the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. He saved 4 lives and gave up to 80 people a chance for a higher quality of life. We have had the pleasure and honor to meet and spend time with Paul's heart recipient, read the article here. We are so excited the Stephen will be joining us again this year for our festival.

To read more about Paul and the foundation please go HERE

Please come out and support a great cause while having a blast.

Monster Week

Today we kicked off our Monster Unit by reading one of my favorite stories...

I absolutely LOVE this one.

We talked about how monsters are not real. Then we made our own Max and the children told me what they do when they feel wild.
Here are some of the answers I got:
jump on my bed, scream, run, fight with my brother, scare people, play outside, hang from a tree, and swing on the playground.
