Jobs

This week Mr. I is talking us about insects. I love this unit because the children learn SO much. Yesterday we had 7 caterpillars delivered to watch turn into a butterfly. So far we talked about how we know if a bug is an insect through a song by Dr. Jean. The song teaches the children that insects have a head, thorax, abdomen, eyes, mouth, two antennas, and six legs. Today we talked about a butterflies life cycle. Still to come...lady bugs and how spiders are not insects.
Here are picture of the children's jobs:
Lady Bug Glyph

Here the children had to find the matching trees and practiced writing numbers and number words.

Catching Butterflies. The children caught a butterfly with a letter on it and then had to highlight that letter.

Ladybug Math. Here the children picked a number, put that many dots on the lady bug and recorded it.

Ice Cream

Yesterday we finished spelling ice cream and had our party today. The children loved it and made a mess.

Here is a picture of the back of our door, unfortunately the only time it is seen is when the door is closed.

I have to share!

A couple weeks ago we had family picture taken with Courtney Young Photography. She is affordable, sweet, and awesome. I had a blast picking out our color scheme and finding all the perfect pieces(well that part was a little stressful at times). Courtney was so easy to work with and did a fantastic job of capturing Calen's personality. I have already booked Calen's two year pictures with her for this summer. You can check her facebook page out HERE. I should get the CD with all the pictures this week and can;t wait to see all the pictures. Here is a sneak peek that she put on facebook.

Spring Break

Spring Break is almost over and I don't know where the week as gone. We went to Florida and had a blast. It was so nice to get away and relax. I love getting to spend family time so Monday will be bitter sweet.
I hope everyone is having a great spring break as well and enjoying their time with their sweet angels.
Here are some pictures from our trip.
This was Calen's first time walking on the beach. He wasn't too sure about it but after awhile he loved walking on the beach.

After much coaching we got Calen to get in the water. He had a ball walking on Daddy.

Leprechaun Mischief

A Leprechaun came to our room today and left a mess and clues for a treasure hunt. At the end of out hunt he left us green rice krispy treat. YUMMY!!!!

Some of the fun we have had this week.

"I feel lucky when..." The children cut out and made adorable leprechaun faces as I went around asking them when they feel lucky. They responses were priceless. I got the idea from HERE.
Pot of Gold Rainbows. The children had to glue cut pieces of paper to make a rainbow coming out of a pot. I got the idea from HERE.

The children are coloring a rainbow from their Religion workbooks. I gave them an extra treat of Skittles to eat while they colored.

During one of their jobs this week the children had to finish shamrock patterns.

Another job the children glued cotton balls on paper plates, glued stripes of colored paper for a rainbow, and glued in all to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Saw a version of it HERE.

Pot of Gold Math. Here the children had to pick a pot and count the coins and record it.
We made these adorable Leprechauns.

Rainbow Fruit Loops. The children sorted Fruit Loops based on their color and then we ate them. YUMM!

Shamrock

Tuesday we talked out how St. Patrick taught the people of Ireland about God using a shamrock. We discussed how the three leafed shamrock was used to explain the trinity. He used it in his talks to represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit exist as separate elements of the same entity. Then the children colored a shamrock and cut out hearts that said Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Crazy Day

Sorry that I have not posted this week. It has flown by. This weekend I started feeling bad and finally took off yesterday to go to the doctor. I have a sinus infection and am taking four different types of medicine to get rid of it. I feel better today but have tons of pressure in my head and feel like it's going to explode. Luckily I was home yesterday because my sweet angel got sick too. Instead of putting him down for a nap in his bed we cuddled on the couch together. Shortly after he feel asleep I noticed that he was burning up and his skin was red. I had Tim, my husband, get the thermometer and take his temperature. The cranial scan said 102, so Tim picked up the phone to call the doctor because he was getting better. I didn't think 102 was right because he was way too hot, so I took it again. It then read 104.5 and the other side said 105.2. I freaked out and he told the nurse she said you need to bring him in now. My poor baby, kept having shivers that really freaked me out. We got to the doctors office and he had a 104.8 temperature. We found out that he has an ear infection too. Started medicine right away and had a low key evening. Luckily this morning his temperature was 98.7 and you would never know that he felt horrible yesterday. You have to love the way children can bounce back from anything.

I Love Pinterest

Last night I was looking on Pinterest and found this adorable cat in the hat art project that I knew we HAD to do. The children did a fanastic job. They all need to be framed and hung up.

Green Eggs

For snack today we ate "green eggs". In the past we have made green eggs but the children never really ate them, so I saw this idea on pinterest and knew that we had to do it. It's lime sherbet and cool whip. The children LOVED it and wanted more.
